Student Parking and Permits
Unless marked otherwise, all parking areas at UC Davis Medical Center, including off-site and leased facilities, are reserved for permit-only parking for students, staff, government or vendor/service vehicles. To use these areas, vehicles must display a valid permit and/or license plate. All permits must be authorized and issued by Parking Services. In lots 14, 16, 18 and 25, one-day permits can be purchased from a dispensing machine via cash or credit card.
Student permit parking is on a "first-come, first-serve" basis and does not guarantee the holder a reserved parking space. It provides the opportunity to legally park where space is available.
Permits are not for resale and are not transferrable to other persons. Permits are for use by the purchaser only. Only one parking permit may be purchased per person.
Which Permit Do I Need?
GS Permit parking is designed to meet the specific needs of Graduate School of Management students. To park legally, vehicles must be registered with the Parking Office. GS permit parking is valid Monday thru Friday, 5:00 p.m. – 11:59 p.m. and all day on Saturdays. Valid only in Lots 4, 12, 14 and 16. Click here for more information.
UC Davis Health System Temporary B permits may be purchased by limited appointment employees or 49% or less per diem employees or students on a cash basis (cash includes check and credit card recordings). Permit holders may park in designated surface lots anytime. Employees with temporary B permits may park in attended lots only during the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m., Monday thru Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. To ensure adequate patient/visitor parking, employees with temporary B permits may not park in attended or metered parking lots during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and may be subject to parking violation citation. (UC Davis Health System Temporary B permits are synonymous with UC Davis campus A permits.) Temporary B permits allow the purchaser to park in B permit designated areas when space is available.
C permits may be purchased by limited appointment employees or 49% or less per diem employees or students on a cash basis (cash includes check and credit card recordings). Permit holders may park in all C designated surface lots anytime. UC Davis Health System annual C permits are synonymous with UC Davis campus C permits. C permits allow the purchaser to park in C permit designated areas when space is available.
Motorcycle permits may be purchased by career employees through payroll deduction or with cash. Students and limited appointment employees may purchase a Motorcycle permit on a cash basis. Permit holders may park their motorcycle in designated motorcycle parking spaces only. Motorcycle spaces are designated in the parking structures and some unattended lots. If all motorcycle spaces are taken, permit holders may park in any "B" parking space.
Temporary Carpool permits may be purchased by career employees, limited appointment employees, 49% or less per diem employees, or students on a cash basis (cash includes check and credit card recordings). All parties involved with the carpool must be registered as a carpool with the Parking Services commuter choice program.
CP 2 (two-person carpool) permitters have access to the same parking privileges as B permit holders. CP 3 (three-person carpool) Carpools get designated reserved parking. Carpool parking is synonymous to A parking on campus. Only one permit will be issued for each established carpool. Carpool members are expected to use their one day rideshare passes when they drive alone. Each carpool member is responsible for canceling his/her own payroll deductions when participation in a carpool is no longer desired. All unused one day rideshare passes must be returned to Parking Services upon cancellation as they are no longer valid.
Disabled Placards or plates issued by The California Department of Motor Vehicles identifying staff, faculty and students who require a wide parking space to use special equipment such as wheelchairs or walkers will be required to purchase and display a valid UC Davis Medical Center "B" or "C" parking permit. If applicant is not a permit holder, a daily permit can be purchased in Lots 14, 16, 18 or 25. These are the only permits honored in parking spaces denoted by the international handicap symbol because they are displayed in conjunction with a handicapped placard or plate.
Medical Parking Permits
Medical parking permits are available through the parking services offices for persons who require temporary, short-term, close-in parking for medical reasons, but who do not require a wide-space stall for mobility. This permit is issued with a time period not to exceed 2 months. Extension of this time limitation is granted at the discretion of the Parking Services manager with appropriate documentation from a physician.
- Medical parking permits must be displayed with a valid "B" or "C" parking permit. If the applicant is not a permit holder, a daily permit can be purchased in Lots 14, 16, 18 or 25.
- Medical permit eligibility for staff/employees is reviewed by Parking and Transportation Services. Employees must provide Parking Services with a letter from a physician stating mobility limitations and duration of need.
