Special Announcement
New Parking Permit Rate Changes, 2009
Effective July 1, parking rates at UC Davis’ Sacramento campus will increase to fund a new parking garage, with construction set to begin in 2010.
The new rates are needed to fund parking in the Main Hospital zone for staff, patients and visitors. All permits will increase approximately 11 percent. In addition to employee rate increases, visitor parking rates will increase from $1 per hour to $1.50 per hour.

The most popular parking permit, the B permit, will increase to $40 per month from the previous $36, and the D permit, which provides reserved parking, will increase to $88 per month, up from the previous $79.
The approved rate increases are necessary to cover debt service, the rise of operational and maintenance costs and increased transportation costs. It has been the practice of Transportation and Parking Services to keep costs down so that fee increases would not be necessary. Although the department had received approval to raise fees by a maximum of $10, it applied only a $4 increase to the B permit and a $9 increase to the D permit.
The new rates were approved by the Chief Executive Officer Cabinet this month. Monthly employees should see the increase on their Aug. 1 paycheck and bi-weekly employees should see the increase on their July 8 paycheck.
Transportation and Parking Services has programs that support alternative transportation options, such as carpools, vanpools, public transit and bicycling. All alternative transportation programs offer discounts (subsidies or discounts on permits). Those interested in these commute options should contact Transportation and Parking Services at 916-734-2687.
