Oncology- Head and Neck
The Head and Neck Oncology Service meets every Friday. Tumor clinic is held 10 a.m. - noon. UC Davis head and neck oncologist, radiation therapist, social workers and nurses attend the tumor conference, which takes place noon - 1:30 p.m. After being examined at the tumor conference, patients are presented with a treatment plan.
This service manages the removal and reconstruction related benign and malignant tumor rising in the head and neck, including the larynx, pharynx,sinuses, oral cavity, ear and neck. Small tumors are treated with course of radiation therapy, surgery or laser excision. Large tumors are often treated with a combination of surgery postoperative radiotherapy.
Speech and hearing rehabilitation and prosthetic dentistry are essential parts of this program.
