Endocrine
Tumors of the thyroid and parathyroid are typically managed with surgery. Your doctor may evaluate you with endoscopes to look at your throat, and imaging studies such as ultrasound, CT scan or MRI scans. A needle biopsy may be recommended to help determine the type of tumor to assist your doctor in making a treatment recommendation. Surgery is oftentimes performed as an outpatient or overnight procedure through small incisions.
Other rare endocrine tumors (paragangliomas, carotid body tumors, glomus tumors) are managed in our referral center. These tumors require careful preoperative workup and detailed discussions with patients regarding the treatment options and what to expect after the procedure.
