Resident Application Procedure

The UC Davis Otolaryngology Program offers three PGY I positions each year.

Applicant interviews, arranged by invitation, are held during the fall and/or winter months. Applicants are interviewed by faculty throughout the day, tour the campus and facilities and are invited to a dinner hosted by our current residents.

Applications should be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) ( http://www.aamc.org/audienceeras.htm ) and the match will be conducted through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) (www.nrmp.org). We encourage applicants to apply as soon after the ERAS opening date as possible.  We will review applications up until our interviews begin, however late applications may not have an equal chance of being selected for an interview and may be considered on a space available basis.  Applications are considered complete when the following documentation is received through ERAS:

  • Common Application Form (CAF)
  • Personal Statement
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Three Letters of  Recommendation
  • USMLE Scores (Step 1 and Step 2 if available)

Applicants to the UC Davis Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery Residency Program must graduate from an accredited medical school and be eligible for medical licensure in the State of California.  The Medical Board of California requires that all residents (regardless of their specialty) be licensed prior to the start of their PG III year.

The State of California, in conjunction with the Medical Board of California, passed AB3479 (September 1994) which established a four-week family practice curriculum requirement.  Therefore, in order to be eligible for licensure you must meet this requirement.  If you have any questions as to whether or not your medical school curriculum meets the requirement for licensure in the State of California, please contact the Medical Board directly at (916) 263-2344.

If you have any questions regarding our program or application process, you may direct them to the residency coordinator at (916)734-8157 or to the e-mail above.

UC Davis is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer with a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of diversity among its faculty and staff. In that spirit, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from persons of underrepresented groups including women, ethnic minorities, special disabled veterans, Vietnam-era veterans and handicapped persons.
