The main teaching hospital for the residency program is the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento. One of the busiest trauma hospitals in the country, this rapidly expanding facility provides ophthalmic emergency coverage for the majority of Northern California. Our department is located in the newly designed, state-of-the-art multi-specialty outpatient clinic adjoining the hospital. This will provide ambulatory surgical facilities within the clinic building as well as close association with other medical subspecialties. UC Davis has developed an extensive primary care network throughout California's central valley to provide a continuing source of ophthalmic referrals. Recent additions of a new 12 story tower and adjacent Shriner's Hospital make UC Davis Medical Center one of the premier medical centers in California.
