K - 12 outreach programs
In an effort to increase the number of students from underserved communities who maintain competitive applications for medical school, UC Davis School of Medicine has initiated several programs directed at pre-college education. The following outreach programs, coordinated through the Office of Medical Education, focus on preparing and motivating students for college and medical school:
Gross Anatomy Lab Tour
Medical students conduct an anatomy lab class and make a presentation on admission requirements for the School of Medicine. (temporarily suspended due to change in facilities).
Health Professions Saturday Academy
Every Saturday for one month a local high school attends health science workshops conducted by medical students.
School Site Visits
The School of Medicine's Outreach Officer visits health-related high school classes and clubs to make presentations regarding admission requirements for the School of Medicine.
College Fairs and Career Days
An outreach officer speaks with students one-on-one regarding admission to the School of Medicine
