Overview 3rd Year
The third year program consists entirely of required clerkship rotations in the clinical specialties of surgery (8 weeks), medicine (8 weeks), OB/Gyn (8 weeks), pediatrics (8 weeks), psychiatry (8 weeks) and primary care (8 weeks).

The third year required clerkships must be taken at UCDMC, a major affiliated hospital, or at sites preapproved by the Committee on Educational Policy. The third year Primary Care Clerkship, administered by the Department of Family Practice & Community Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine, include 4 weeks of primary care with a Family Practice practioner, and 4 weeks with an internist from Internal Medicine. -
Students may elect to defer one of the required third year clerkships to the fourth year with proper authorization. A limited number of slots are available.

The Doctoring/AMP course meets on Tuesdays a.m. and Thursday a.m. meeting with 1/2 of the class on each day. Groups are assigned annually.
