Acceptable additions to the fees category of the basic student expense budget include:

Laboratory fees

Fees associated with research or away-electives (within the continental U.S. only)

Licensing exam fees (only if required for graduation when waiver is not available)

Fees associated with the USMLE Clinical Skills examinations*
*USMLE Step 1 exam fees are already included in the year-two student expense budget (books and supplies category). Students need to budget funds wisely in order to pay the Step 1 exam fee. USMLE Step 2 CS and CK exam fees can be documented after the student has registered for these exams. Provide proof of registration and payment by submitting a copy of the registration application form (showing the fees charged).
