Special Study Modules

The GOALS of the Special Study Modules are to:
  1. Promote integration of basic or applied sciences and clinical medicine at an advanced level.
  2. Provide opportunities to practice and refine fundamental skills in critical appraisal and analysis of emerging scientific developments in order to build a foundation for life-long learning and scholarship.
  3. Focus in-depth on a multidisciplinary topic or domain of special interest to the student.
  4. Provide learning experiences, expertise and resources to help students
    • Appreciate the ways in which multidisciplinary teams of scientists and clinicians collaborate in the pursuit of new knowledge through research.
    • Understand the processes through which research is translated into technologies and practices to improve medical care to individual patients and communities.
    • Develop knowledge and expertise that may serve as the basis for more in-depth study or scholarly investigation during residency and beyond.
