Shifa Community Clinic

The Shifa Clinic began in 1994 from the collaboration of two physicians with the V Street Mosque in Sacramento to provide regular healthcare services to underserved members of the surrounding Muslim community.  As news of the clinic spread throughout the community, it grew to a more structured and organized facility where patient care could be provided more frequently.

In 2002, Shifa Clinic affiliated with the UC Davis School of Medicine under the Department Obstetrics and Gynecology.  With the help of the current medical director, Shagufta Yasmeen, M.D., volunteer efforts of excellent physicains from the Sacramento and Davis communiteis, and medical students from the University of California, Davis the clinic join together to serve a diverse population of disadvantaged patients every Sunday.  Shifa Clinic specializes in serving Middle Eastern and East Indian Communities, providing interpretation services in Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, and Farsi.  The staff at Shifa Clinic hopes they can provide a successful example for future community endeavors and serve as positive role models to others.
