Clinical Outcomes of Endometrial Cancer and Uterine Sarcoma

Principal Investigator: Professor Gary Leiserowitz, M.D.

We have a variety of projects using a linked database of about 48,000 endometrial cancer patients in California from 1997 to 2001. The database used the California Cancer Registry linked to the OSHPD hospital discharge database and the Vital Statistics database. Consequently, we can evaluate the outcomes of surgical treatments, complications, and cancer characteristics related to these endometrial cancer patients.

Current or pending projects include:

  1. Comparison of clinical outcomes and survival in endometrial cancer patients undergoing laparoscopic vs. open hysterectomy for endometrial cancer
  2. The effect of lymphadenectomy and radiation on the outcomes and survival of endometrial cancer patients
  3. Cancer characteristics and survival of uterine sarcomas
  4. Analysis of Stage II endometrial cancer cases for clinical outcomes and survival
  5. Evaluation of grade 1 endometrial cancer patients for the morbidity of treatment as related to pre-existing medical conditions
