The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis seeks a full-time, master’s-degree prepared faculty who will also serve as the California Board of Registered Nursing-approved assistant director for the prelicensure Master’s Entry Program in Nursing. The successful candidate is expected to engage in clinical teaching and provide leadership in the growing Master’s Entry Program in Nursing.

One full-time, academic position at the assistant professor rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series is available in Sacramento, California. Appointees to the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are expected to engage in clinical education, achieve a high level of professional competence and dissemination of scholarship, as well as provide university and public service.

The school seeks expertise in a wide variety of clinical specialties and backgrounds. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can teach in more than one degree program at the School of Nursing and have previously served in a clinical coordinator role in a Master’s Entry Program in Nursing.

The successful candidate will contribute 25% effort to the responsibility of assistant director of the Master’s Entry Program in Nursing. The assistant director is expected to be knowledgeable about the nursing education regulations/directors’ handbook as well as be able to administer/manage all aspects of the program in the absence of the director. Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Clinical instructor recruitment
  • Managing preparation of clinical courses and instructor assignments
  • Responsibility and accountability for updating the MEPN Student Handbook and all relevant clinical policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development of documents required for continued accreditation and BRN approval
  • Responsibility for implementing new student and instructor orientation
  • Participate on the comprehensive exam committee

  • One year full-time direct patient care as an R.N. or one academic year of R.N. clinical teaching, within last five years
  • One year nurse education teaching experience or completion of a postbaccalaureate course in teaching nursing. Content expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • medical surgical
    • pediatrics
    • women’s health/obstetrics
    • community health
    • psychiatric/mental health


  • Candidates must possess a master’s degree from an accredited program.
  • clear and active California R.N. license
