Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing

Jessica Draughon Moret is an associate clinical professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. Draughon Moret’s research focuses on structural and independent factors contributing to women’s health disparities.

Her current projects examine the intersection of gender-based violence and HIV risk, including comorbidities of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse. Her dissertation, “Sexual Assault and Protocol Adherence in Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP) for HIV,” received funding from the National Institute of Mental Health and examined factors related to provision and acceptance of HIV non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis following sexual assault.

A forensic nurse since 2007, Draughon Moret leverages mobile technologies to improve women’s access to and participation in research studies. She also co-developed the mobile application “bMOREsafe” which provides information on how to access resources following abuse or assault through a trauma informed care framework.

Draughon Moret is a 2023 cohort Betty Irene Moore Fellow completing a three-year program with the Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for Nurse Leaders and Innovators. As part of the program, she receives $450,000 to conduct an innovative project. Her fellowship project focuses on improving post-sexual assault human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) access via telehealth consultation.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2006; went on to receive both a Master of Science in Nursing in 2008 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 2013, all from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.
