Associate Adjunct Professor

Sheryl CatzCara M. Sandholdt is an associate adjunct professor teaching anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology for the family nurse practitioner and physician assistant programs at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. She also teaches anatomy for medical students at the UC Davis School of Medicine.

She began her career as a neuroscientist at UCSF, where she studied learning, memory, vocal mechanics and sensorimotor plasticity in songbirds and other animal models.

Sandholdt teaches anatomy and physiology to nursing, health, medical assistants and various undergraduate populations at college programs throughout the region, including Consumes River College, Folsom Lake College, Sierra College and California State University, Sacramento.

She earned a Bachelor of Science from UC Davis and a Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience from UCSF. While at UCSF, Sandholdt worked with scientists from diverse backgrounds in Biology, Physics and Computer Science. She has been published in the Journal of Neurophysiology and the Journal of Neuroscience.
