On behalf of all of us at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, I thank you for your continued interest and support of this visionary and innovative new nursing school. We have embarked on a course to advance health and ignite leadership through innovative education, transformative research and bold system change.

Many of you have expressed interest in applying for admission to the inaugural classes of the interprofessional Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership Graduate Degree Program in fall 2010. We excitedly anticipate final systemwide University of California approval of the graduate degree program soon and plan to open the application process immediately upon program approval. As we’ve shared with you in the past, we’ll notify you via this Web site when applications are open and available. If you haven’t already signed up for our e-mail listserv, you can do so here and also receive notification via e-mail. We recognize that this first-ever application process comes later than other graduate nursing programs and with a hastened priority deadline.

The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing team and the Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership Graduate Group faculty are committed to ensuring prospective students receive timely and complete answers to questions as well as receive assistance as necessary to promote a successful application process. To better facilitate this process and ensure interested students receive the news of the availability of applications immediately, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing will broadcast a text message notifying interested students of the opening of applications for the doctoral and master’s degree program of the Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership Graduate Degree Program. To sign up to receive this text message, text “apply” to SMS short-code 27138. Be sure to respond by texting "y" to the confirmation message you will receive following your request to join.

Meanwhile, you can learn more about the two degree programs on the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing Web site at http://nursing.ucdavis.edu/education. We anticipate detailed information to be posted in the next week.

The UC Davis Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership Graduate Degree Program prepares nurse leaders, researchers and faculty in a unique interdisciplinary and interprofessional environment. The graduate group is composed of faculty with expertise in Nursing, Medicine, Health Informatics, Nutrition, Biostatistics, Public Health, Health Policy and other fields. The doctoral program prepares graduates as health-care and health policy leaders and nurse faculty/researchers at the university level. Master’s degree program graduates will be well prepared for health-care leadership roles in a variety of organizations and as nurse faculty for prelicensure nursing programs.
