Health Systems Faculty Position Announcement
The University of California, Davis, seeks visionary nursing scholars to join the founding faculty of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. This new School of Nursing was founded with a $100 million grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing is currently recruiting for two to four full-time academic positions at the assistant, associate or full rank in the professor-in-residence series, with the possibility of a change in series, depending on performance and availability of FTE, to the assistant, associate or full rank in the professor tenure track series. The school seeks candidates with scholarship and research interests in the area of Health Systems including health policy, system-level intervention and analysis and informatics. Successful candidates for these positions will join the founding faculty for the school and will play a key role in the further development of the interdisciplinary/interprofessional curricula for the doctorate, master’s and future baccalaureate degree programs.
A primary objective for the school’s faculty is to provide a competency-based education program that is anchored by five key curricular elements: interprofessional/interdisciplinary education, scholarship and academic excellence, cultural awareness and sensitivity; innovative technology and leadership. The founding faculty will have the unique opportunity to participate in the design, establishment and inception of the core programs of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing.
A doctoral degree (Ph. D. preferred) in Nursing Science, or related field with experience in education and research, is required. Licensed registered nurse or eligible for nursing licensure in the state of California is preferred. Postdoctoral training or academic experience is preferred. Qualified candidates will have experience in teaching and mentoring graduate students, and research and expertise in the area of Health Systems. Of particular interest are health services research, system change, organizational dynamics, health-care leadership, health policy, program development and evaluation, health Informatics, legal, political, and ethical issues in health systems and policy; finance and reimbursement; and outcomes research. Candidates will engage in service and professional activities including committee appointments at the local, state, regional and national level. Candidates will also disseminate knowledge through publications as well as participate and present at interdisciplinary interprofessional education and scientific meetings.
