Have your wellness story featured in an upcoming newsletter – share your strategies to promote well-being to Maggie Rea, director for student wellness, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Office of Student Wellness was created in July 2009 to help UC Davis Health students achieve and maintain optimal physical and emotional health. An essential aspect of becoming health professionals is learning to take care of personal health and work-life balance, thus allowing individuals to be the best healers they can be to others. The wellness skills learned during the formative years of graduate school will help students continue to grow personally and professionally over long careers as practicing clinicians. The main mission of the Student Wellness office is to develop and help implement measures to improve students’ wellness. In order to accomplish this goal, the Student Wellness team works together with students, faculty and staff, to foster collaborations that lead to a culture of excellence and well-being.
Specific activities of the office include:
Planning educational events, such as the Annual Wellness Lecture and wellness workshops
Identifying and enriching mental-health care resources available to students
Serving as a triage point for any mental-health-related difficulties that may arise during graduate school years
Please contact us with any suggestions or concerns. We look forward to hearing from you!
