UC Davis School of Medicine, ranked 44th among U.S. medical schools in research funding from the National Institutes of Health. It is ranked by U.S. News and World Report among the top 50 medical schools in the nation for both primary care and research. The school operates the largest family nurse practitioner and physician assistant training program in California.
UC Davis Medical Center
UC Davis Medical Center, a 577-bed, acute-care hospital with more than 100 specialty clinics, a level-I trauma center, comprehensive adult and pediatric emergency department, a top-ranked burn unit, and a comprehensive range of services. The medical center’s all-R.N. nursing staff is one of the most highly regarded in the nation and is distinguished by its peer/partner relationship with the medical staff. Nurses are encouraged and given assistance to seek advanced degrees. They also are encouraged to design, conduct and publish their own research studies, reflecting the health system’s commitment to academically rigorous, evidence-based practice.

Center for Health and Technology
Center for Health and Technology, a world leader in the use of telecommunications and information technology to improve the availability and delivery of high-quality health care. Its telehealth program supports pediatric critical care and high-risk obstetrical care in rural communities, and its “distance education” program uses interactive technologies to deliver continuing medical education and continuing nursing education to health professionals in remote regions.
Clinical and Translational Science Center
Clinical and Translational Science Center, the academic home for innovative and collaborative medical research conducted at UC Davis and its many institutional and community partners. The center expedites the translation and integration of science from a variety of disciplines into discoveries and treatments that benefit society. Established with a Clinical and Translational Science Award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the center is transforming how scientists and clinicians are trained and conduct research so that new treatments reach patients more quickly.
Center for Reducing Health Disparities
Center for Reducing Health Disparities takes a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to address the needs of
the most vulnerable and underserved populations. The center focuses on research, education and community outreach to reduce inequities in health access and quality of care.
National Cancer Institute-designated UC Davis Cancer Center
National Cancer Institute-designated UC Davis Cancer Center brings together more than 800 scientists and clinicians in a focused assault on cancer. It supports affiliated cancer centers in rural communities, hundreds of active clinical trials, and model outreach and cancer prevention programs in ethnically diverse communities.
UC Davis Children’s Hospital
UC Davis Children’s Hospital offers comprehensive services for children, including highly regarded pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, level-I pediatric trauma services, heart surgery, oncology and hematology services, and much more, for a huge region of Northern California that includes geographically remote, rural communities.
