The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing

The 2012 UC Davis Nurses’ Campaign

UC Davis Health System nurses deliver excellent care day in and day out and play a crucial role in creating a healthier world. In 2012, for the second consecutive year, a group of these nurses led the UC Davis Nurses’ Campaign, an initiative to generate philanthropic support to sustain the work of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. The 2012 nurses' campaign lasted from March 6 through May 12. On behalf of the nurses' campaign committee, thank you to the donors who participated in the campaign during its first two years.

“I give to the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing because I want to create a healthier world by shaping the future of nursing.”

Brittney Andrews, R. N.
Clinical Nurse III, UC Davis Medical Center
Co-chair, 2012 UC Davis
Nurses’ Campaign Committee

Donors to the nurses’ campaign give for many reasons, including:

  • To impact the future of the nursing profession
  • To increase advanced educational opportunities for nurses and other health-care leaders and ensure the sustainability of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing
  • To support innovative nursing research that will improve health
  • To participate in the transformation of health care through system change and interprofessional education

As you may know, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation provided $100 million to launch the School of Nursing at a high level of excellence. However, this launch funding is not endowed and will gradually decline over the next decade. Between now and academic year 2019-20, when full enrollment is anticipated, it is critical to establish a substantial endowment to keep the school strong and vital far into the future. The school’s long-term success depends upon a public-private partnership, with both public funding and philanthropic support from other donors.
