Working for UC Davis Health System has given me many opportunities throughout my employment here. One such area is in the support nursing staf received to meet their educational goals. When I attended AORN Congress this year I realized how fortunate we are to get reimbursement for conferences and professional leave, this is not the case in many facilities. In addition to reimbursement for education we get additional monthly earnings for certification in specialty areas, and this is good news for me since I am plannin gto take my CNOR exam this year. I believe supporting nurses in meeting their educational goals sends a very clear message to staff that says we value a well educated nurse and expect nothing less.

In addition to providing opportunies for me to meet my educational goals UC Davis Health System has also provided me many opportunites to take on leadership roles within the hospital and on my unit. I have always felt fully supported and encouraged in these endeavors which in turn encourages me along my desired career path. I am very excited about the new Professional Governance Councils that are being assembled and I look forward to being a council member so I can help to grow the profession of nursing within our facility. I believe supporting the growth of nursing staff is crucial in retaining staff, providing a high level of job satisfaction, and promoting professionalism. I am looking forward to many more years here at UC Davis Heatlh System and I am very proud to be part of a great nursing team.
