The largest study ever conducted to determine whether a low-fat diet prevents heart disease or cancer in women found the diet had no effect. The results of the latest Women's Health Initiative study were published in the Feb. 8 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. UC Davis Health System is one of 40 sites across the country participating in the study, enrolling some 1,200 women from the Sacramento area. |

He is the on-site principal investigator for the Women's Health Initiative research effort and is a professor of internal medicine. Iswarlal “Kenny” Jialal is an internationally renowned expert in diabetes, metabolism and diseases of the blood vessels whose research is at the forefront of studies on cardiovascular disease and nutrition. He is a professor of pathology and internal medicine and director of the Laboratory for Atherosclerosis and Metabolic Research at UC Davis Health System. |
