FREE VASCULAR SCREENINGS FOR NATIVE AMERICANS SET FOR OCT. 6 
Native Americans from the Sacramento region will receive free screenings for vascular diseases, conducted by the UC Davis Vascular Laboratory, on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sacramento Native American Health Center, 2020 J St., Sacramento. UC DAVIS STUDY TO ASSESS ENDOVASCULAR TREATMENT OF ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSMS
April 26, 2007 —  The UC Davis Vascular Center is seeking participants for a clinical study that will evaluate whether early endovascular repair of small abdominal aortic aneurysms is superior to periodic surveillance, or “watchful waiting.”

PATIENT SPOTLIGHT TO FOCUS ON PERIPHERAL VASCULAR DISEASE, TREATING DAMAGED BLOOD VESSELS
April 6, 2007 — At next week's meeting of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, UC Davis experts will discuss state-of-the-art treatment for peripheral vascular disease and focus on the potential of stem cell and embryonic stem cell research to improve patient care in our lifetime.

UC DAVIS STUDY FINDS SIMULATION TRAINING CUTS ENDOVASCULAR PROCEDURE TIMES IN HALF
January 3, 2007 — A new study by UC Davis researchers found that surgery residents trained on virtual-reality simulators during a two-day course significantly improved their overall performance, including cutting procedure times in half.

UC DAVIS VASCULAR SPECIALIST FIRST IN SACRAMENTO TO INSTALL NEW, WIRELESS STENT MONITOR
November 17, 2006 — Specialists from the UC Davis Vascular Center are the first team in Sacramento, and one of the first in Northern California, to implant a new, wireless sensing device for patients receiving stent grafts to repair abdominal aortic aneurysms.

UC DAVIS VASCULAR SPECIALISTS TO PERFORM LIVE CASES BROADCAST TO INTERNATIONAL GATHERING
October 24, 2006 — Nearly 12,000 physicians, technicians and other specialists will observe UC Davis vascular specialists John R. Laird and Reggie Low, along with some of the world's other leading endovascular interventionalists, perform live surgeries on Wednesday, Oct. 25, for the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics meeting, the largest interventional cardiology conference in the world.

UC DAVIS VASCULAR CENTER DIRECTOR PLAYS ROLE IN NATIONAL STUDY OF TREATMENT FOR PATIENTS WITH BLOCKED LEG ARTERIES
October 20, 2006 — John Laird, director of the UC Davis Vascular Center, was among the investigators in a national study that showed a new treatment for a circulatory disorder restores blood flow and reduces the need for amputation in patients with severe blockages in the arteries below the knee.

FREE SCREENINGS FOR VASCULAR DISEASE SCHEDULED MAY 13
May 1, 2006 —  Free screenings for senior citizens at risk for vascular disease will be available at UC Davis Medical Center on Saturday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in observance of Vascular Disease Awareness Week.

UC DAVIS STUDY SHOWS GRAPE SEED EXTRACT MAY BE EFFECTIVE IN REDUCING BLOOD PRESSURE
March 26, 2006 — Grape seed extract lowered the blood pressure of patients who participated in a UC Davis study of the benefits of the supplement on people with high blood pressure.
