August 20, 2007

WHAT:

The Sacramento Valley Avoid DUI Taskforce will have a press conference to remind Sacramento Valley drivers not to drink and drive during these last days of summer. Descriptions and details of DUI enforcement activities occurring over the holiday season will be described. On display will be a DUI command vehicle from the Placer County AVOID the 7 Taskforce. UC Davis trauma specialists will address the real life consequences of drinking and driving. Local law enforcement personnel and supervisors, safety advocates and local community members will be in attendance. Anyone requesting further information can contact Lou Costanza or visit the following website: www.californiaavoid.org

The Avoid the 50 Sacramento Valley DUI Task Force is composed of 50 local law enforcement agencies throughout Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Nevada, Yolo, Sutter and Colusa Counties that are allied together to combat Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in the cities and unincorporated areas making up the Sacramento Valley region. The program is called the Avoid program because motorists can “avoid” being arrested by not drinking and driving.
