PATIENT SPOTLIGHT TO FOCUS ON PERIPHERAL VASCULAR DISEASE, TREATING DAMAGED BLOOD VESSELS

WHAT:

At next week's meeting of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, UC Davis experts will discuss state-of-the-art treatment for peripheral vascular disease and focus on the potential of stem cell and embryonic stem cell research to improve patient care in our lifetime. A patient will share personal experiences about living with peripheral vascular disease, and talk about the promise of stem cell research for treatments and a cure.

BACKGROUND: Every year, millions of Americans suffer hearts attacks, strokes, limb loss or ruptured aneurysms, often due to a vascular disease they didn't realize they had. Peripheral vascular disease is a common cause of amputation.
