UC DAVIS BUS IN COLLISION; TWO PEOPLE INJURED
Feb. 26, 2007
(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) — A sports utility truck collided today at about 1:30 p.m. with a UC Davis Health System shuttle bus carrying eight people on eastbound U.S. Highway 50 just west of the 34th Street exit.
Two people were taken to UC Davis Medical Center's emergency department for treatment of undetermined injuries. One of the victims is identified as the driver of the sports utility truck; the other is a UC Davis Health System employee. They are currently being assessed for injuries but neither appears to have critical injuries. The remaining seven shuttle bus passengers were picked up by another UC Davis bus and taken safely to their destination at UC Davis Medical Center.
Initial witness accounts indicate that the truck hit the guardrail and spun into the UC Davis shuttle bus. However, the California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision and has not determined the cause.
