FOSSUM IS NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF AMERICAN SOCIETY OF PERIANESTHESIA NURSES

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) — Susan Fossum, a clinical nurse at UC Davis Health System, has been named as the national president of the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses.
Fossum assumed the post at the society’s 26th National Conference in Anaheim in April.
Fossum is the educator/staff developer for the University Surgery Center/Children’s Surgery Center operating room and PACU at UC Davis Medical Center.
Fossum is a graduate of the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County School of Nursing and earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Phoenix in 1996. A certified post-anesthesia nurse, Fossum has been a member of the society since 1989 and has served on several of its committees, and as Region One director. Fossum has been published, conducted clinical nursing research and lectured both locally and nationally.
The focus for Fossum’s term of office is advocacy; being the voice for patients, nursing practice and the nursing profession.
The American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses is the international professional specialty nursing organization representing the interests of over 55,000 nurses practicing in preanesthesia and postanesthesia care, ambulatory surgery, and pain management.
