(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) — Ann Sievers, a clinical nurse specialist in the UC Davis Department of Otolaryngology, has received the Outstanding Service Award from the Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Nursing, the organization's highest award, given to a society member for exemplary service.
“From the moment that Ann joined the society in 1980, she was ready to contribute her time, energy and talents,” said Sandra Schwartz, executive director of the society. “Her many contributions have helped the society become the dynamic organization it is today.”
Sievers is a nationally recognized author and lecturer on head and neck cancer, and diseases of the ears, nose and throat. She is the author of 11 book chapters and several scientific articles. She has held many positions within the Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Nursing, including national vice president and chair of the Research and Standards of Practice committees. She also is one of the founders of the ENT Nursing Foundation.
During her 25-plus years as a member of the Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Nursing, Sievers has made many other contributions to the organization, including service as a member of its Board of Directors, and chair of its national education and national practice committees. Sievers spearheaded the development of the society's Northern California chapter, later serving as its president and chair of its Education Committee.
