$100 MILLION TO LAUNCH BETTY IRENE MOORE SCHOOL OF NURSING AT UC DAVIS
July 31, 2007 — Continuing its commitment to improving the quality of patient care and fostering nursing excellence through education, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation today announced $100 million in founding support to launch the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at the University of California, Davis.

April 23, 2007 — Donna Kistler, nurse manager of orthopaedics unit in the main hospital at UC Davis Medical Center, is the president-elect of the Association of California Nurse Leaders.

SIEVERS WINS HIGHEST AWARD FROM HEAD AND NECK NURSING SOCIETY
October 3, 2006 — Ann Sievers, a clinical nurse specialist in the UC Davis Department of Otolaryngology, has received the Outstanding Service Award from the Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Nursing, the organization's highest award, given to a society member for exemplary service.

July 21, 2005 — UC Davis Medical Center is fully staffed with nurses today and is reopening all of its nursing units. The emergency department was restored to normal operations at 7:45 p.m. last night.
UC DAVIS MEDICAL CENTER BEGINS RESTORING SERVICES FOLLOWING COURT ORDER AVERTING STRIKE
July 20, 2005 — UC Davis Medical Center has begun notifying its nurses that the California Nurses Association's planned one-day strike tomorrow has been halted. A Sacramento Superior Court judge issued a temporary restraining order this morning averting the strike, planned tomorrow at the five University of California teaching hospitals statewide, including UC Davis Medical Center.

July 18, 2005 — Anticipating the first nurses' strike in its history, UC Davis Medical Center is taking a series of steps to ensure the safety of currently hospitalized patients, without resorting to use of replacement nurses.

March 3, 2005 — Since deploying a team in December to help nurses and others lift patients, UC Davis Medical Center has received no worker’s compensation claims stemming from patient lifts. Requests for the Lift Team have increased from an initial volume of 40 per 24 hours to as many as 140 for the same period.
