WHAT:	UC Davis Children’s Hospital and Kohl’s department store have partnered to sponsor the Davis Kids Triathlon, which is the largest triathlon for youth in the country. Proceeds benefit research, education and patient care programs at UC Davis Children’s Hospital.

WHO:	More than 800 four-to-17-year-olds from throughout the region will swim, bike and run for health and fun. The distances are tailored to fit the various age groups so everyone can finish and earn a medal. A post-event expo includes live music, games, food and beverages. The UC Davis Trauma and Injury Prevention Program will be on hand to provide free bike helmet fittings and safety advice.

WHEN:	August 14 beginning at 8 a.m. At 11 a.m., Kohl’s will present a check for $141,354. The donation came from proceeds of stuffed animal and book sales at Sacramento area Kohl’s department stores. Accepting on behalf of UC Davis Children’s Hospital will be a former patient who is also a triathlon participant and his physician.
