“PAINTING FOR MIRACLES” EXHIBIT FEATURES ART INSPIRED BY HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN


Second Saturday event benefits UC Davis Children’s Hospital

August 5, 2005

WHAT: More than 20 regional artists representing diverse creative styles—graffiti art, multi-media, air brush illustration and more—will exhibit their work at the “Painting for Miracles” reception, art show and silent auction. Their pieces interpret stories from kids from throughout the nation who have overcome medical challenges. Auction proceeds benefit the Children’s Miracle Network, which has provided more than $10 million since 1989 for UC Davis Children’s Hospital research, education and patient care programs.
   
WHO: Hosts of this Second Saturday event are UC Davis Children’s Hospital, Children’s Miracle Network, the Sacramento Ad Club, ZAP Creative Group and Foresters Champions Across America. Featured artists include Jamie Goodchap, Mark Pedras, Yvonne L, Dante Mutti, Jeff Plank, Rhonda Britt and Trever Barker.
   
WHEN:

August 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Auction takes place from 6 to 8:30p.m.
Live music begins at 7:30 p.m.

   
WHERE: ZAP Creative Group, 304 N. 12th Street, Sacramento.
   
BACKGROUND: UC Davis Children’s Hospital is the region’s only comprehensive hospital for children. From primary-care offices to specialty and intensive care clinics, pediatric experts provide compassionate care to more than 74,000 children each year. UC Davis also offers the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in northern California. Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for children’s hospitals. Foresters Champions Across America is a CMN program that honors remarkable children who have overcome illness or injury.
