GREAT CLIPS SALONS RAISE FUNDS FOR
UC DAVIS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
October 8, 2004
(SACRAMENTO, Calif.)
— When residents of the greater Sacramento
area and Northern California visit a Great
Clips hair salon during the month of October for a new fall
hairstyle, they’ll be helping hospitalized kids at UC
Davis Children’s Hospital.
Great Clips salons are raising money for UC Davis, the local Children’s
Miracle Network affiliate hospital, by selling paper miracle balloons.
The salons will also donate a portion of the proceeds from every
haircut the weekend of Oct. 16-18.
Children’s
Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization
dedicated to supporting research, education and patient care programs
at children’s hospitals. Funds raised locally for the Children’s
Miracle Network go to UC Davis Children’s Hospital to support
programs such as Child Life, through which specialists help children
prepare for medical procedures and provide emotional support during
treatment and rehabilitation. Using creative arts and play therapies
as well as other approaches, Child Life experts help children,
teens and siblings cope with their illness and hospital stay.
U.S.
News and World Report has consistently ranked UC Davis Medical
Center among America’s best hospitals and ranks its medical
school among the top schools in the nation for primary care training
and research. The medical center and children’s hospital
are recognized for excellence in patient care and lifesaving research.
The medical center is home to the region’s only Level 1
trauma center for adults and children, and the pediatric and neonatal
intensive care units at the children’s hospital rank among
the best for the care of critically ill and injured.
