11TH ANNUAL “GOLF FORE KIDS”
TOURNAMENT SET
September 27, 2004
(SACRAMENTO, Calif.)
— The 11th annual Golf Fore Kids tournament
swings into action on October 4 at the Rancho Murieta Country
Club to raise money for the UC
Davis Children’s Hospital CAARE Diagnostic and Treatment
Center.
The center, which focuses on the prevention and treatment of abused
and neglected children, will use proceeds from the tournament
to further its programs, including crisis intervention, family
and individual therapy, and home-visit services for traumatized
children. The center helps more than 650 youngsters a month who
are victims of sexual and physical abuse and other trauma, or
who have been placed in foster care.
“Our community has long been supportive of the UC Davis
CAARE Center because it plays such a vital role in reducing trauma
in the lives of abused children,” said Kelly Brothers, one
of the co-chairs of the annual event. “I’m honored
to be part of this effort because it truly supports crucial programs
for kids in need.”
The scramble tournament starts with registration at 10 a.m., followed
by lunch at 11:30 a.m. and tee time at 12:30 p.m. Dinner and awards
get under way at 7 p.m. Registration is $200 per person, which
includes green fees, lunch, dinner, awards and a live auction.
Prizes will be awarded in contests for putting, a hole-in-one,
longest drive and closest to the pin.
A golfer who scores in the hole-in-one contest can win a new car.
Personal and corporate sponsorships range from $300 to sponsor
a hole to $25,000 for major underwriting of the event.
