SEE 94 SHAVEES GO BALD TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR KIDS WITH CANCER

WHAT:

See 94 shavees take the bald plunge for St. Baldrick's  third annual public shearing event in Sacramento to raise funds for UC Davis Cancer Center's childhood cancer research. So far, this event has raised over $50,000 in pledges.

   
WHEN: Saturday, March 18, 2006 — Noon to 3 p.m.
   
WHERE: UC Davis Cancer Center auditorium, 4501 X St., Sacramento
(Parking in Lot 4 next to the Cancer Center is free for vehicles displaying press credentials)
   
WHY: Some shave in memory of a child who has died of cancer. Some shave in support of a child who is going through cancer treatment. Others get involved to help kids they will never meet.
   
VISUALS & INTERVIEWS:

  • See young and old alike have their heads shaved for this common cause.
  • UC Davis Cancer Center director, Ralph deVere White will be one of the many shavees.
  • Pediatric cancer patients and their siblings will be adding to the festivities by turning the cancer center fountain into a “St. Baldrick's green” fountain.
