WHAT EVERY VIETNAMESE AMERICAN SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CANCER: A HEALTH CONFERENCE AND FAIR

First Vietnamese-language cancer information “warm line” to be introduced

WHAT:

Vietnamese American women are diagnosed with cervical cancer at five times the rate of white women. Vietnamese American men have the highest liver cancer rate of any racial or ethnic group in the country. And Vietnamese Americans are less likely than other groups to get Pap tests, mammograms and other cancer screening exams. At this conference and health fair, experts will explore the language gaps and cultural barriers that contribute to these disparities. In addition, the first Vietnamese-language hotline for cancer information will be unveiled. The conference will be conducted in Vietnamese.
