SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- "Run Against Pain," a benefit event to support the UC Davis Center for Pain Medicine, will be held on Saturday, May 19, at UC Davis Medical Center. Proceeds will be used to support research into the treatment of chronic pain in children and adults.

Entrants may participate in a 10K or 5K run/walk, or a half-mile run for children. All of the events will begin and end at the medical center at the corner of 45th and X streets. The half-mile run for children 12 and under starts at 8:45 a.m., while the 10K and 5K run/walk will start at 9 a.m. The cost of registration is $20 for adults and $10 for children until May 12. Participants also may register on the day of the race for $25 for adults, starting at 7:30 a.m.

Prize money will be awarded to the top open and masters runners. Top age-group runners will receive prizes. All children in the half-mile run will receive gifts. All participants will receive a T-shirt and "goody bag." There also will be refreshments, music and random drawings for prizes such as two round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the United States, a Napa wine tour and meals at local restaurants.
