FUND-RAISING EXECUTIVE IS NEW MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER FOR UC DAVIS HEALTH SYSTEM
(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) -- Virginia V. Rivera, a fund-raiser with 15 years of experience in higher education and health care, is the new major and planned gifts officer for UC Davis Health System.
Rivera is responsible for helping individuals planning to make significant gifts to the health system or include it in their estate plans. She also will develop a major gifts program for the health system to make it easier for donors to support education, research and patient-care programs.
"UC Davis Health System has such a tremendous impact on the Sacramento community and the Central Valley region," said Rivera. "This is an amazing institution. It's no wonder that so many people want to support it."
Prior to joining the health system, Rivera was associate vice president for development at San Jose State University, where she had held a variety of positions over seven years, including director of major and planned gifts, director of major gifts, and interim director of development. Rivera also previously served as director of development for the Alexian Brothers Hospital Foundation, and as development officer for the San Jose Medical Center Foundation.
Rivera has been certified as a specialist in planned giving by the American Institute for Philanthropic Studies, and as a fund raising executive by the National Society of Fund Raising Executives.
