NEW POSTAGE STAMP FEATURES PHOTO BY UC DAVIS PHYSICIAN
WHAT:
UC Davis ophthalmologist James Brandt will exhibit and discuss a new U.S. postage stamp featuring his photograph of a brown pelican. The stamp, which will be issued in March, commemorates the centennial of the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge in Sebastian, Fla. Brandt took the photograph two years ago while he was attending an ophthalmology meeting in Sarasota.
Brandt is an avid nature photographer and has photographed wildlife around the world. He has exhibited in galleries since the 1970s, in part to support his college and medical school education. Over the years, his work has appeared in National Geographic World, Encyclopedia Britannica, World Book, Encarta and on a few book covers.
