UC DAVIS PHYSICIAN RICARDO GONZALES DIES AT 47

(DAVIS, Calif.) -- Ricardo Gonzales, an internal medicine physician with UC Davis Medical Group in Davis, died on Friday, September 28, at UC Davis Medical Center after a short illness. He was 47.

Gonzales was born on Jan. 6, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He received his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University in 1988 and his medical degree from the University of Arizona in 1993. He served an internship at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center from 1993-94, and served his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 1994-96. He initially was hired by UC Davis Medical Group as a physician for its Vacaville office in 1996. He joined the Davis office in May 1999.

Prior to beginning his training as a physician, Gonzales had been employed as a farm worker and an electrician.

Gonzales is survived by his wife, Ana Maria Martel.
