James E. Boggan

Clinical/Research Interests

Dr. Boggan heads a specialty team that treats difficult-to-resect tumors of the head, neck and surrounding structures. He also is an expert in pediatric neurosurgery. Dr. Boggan is interested in the innovative use of lasers and other energy sources for treating brain cancers, including photodynamic therapy and neutron-capture therapy for treatment of glioblastomas. Dr. Boggan's research investigations include retinoic acid receptor expression in primary and metastatic brain tumors, and whether gadolinium texaphyrins (contrast MRI agents) can make high-grade gliomas and glioblastomas more radiosensitive.
