  Attending staff rounds are held daily with the residents, interns and an attending neurosurgeon for approximately 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. Each patient is seen and/or discussed by the residents and attending staff every day. Attendance is mandatory for all residents except when emergencies require their presence elsewhere in the hospital.
• Outpatient clinics
  Outpatient clinics are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. One or more residents are in attendance for each clinic session.
• Grand Rounds conference
  Grand Rounds are held the second Tuesday of the month for two hours. Interesting topics and cases are presented by guest speakers. Residents are also assigned topics and cases to be presented each week. In addition clinical faculty bring appropriate cases for discussion when time permits.  Relevant diagnostic imaging studies are also discussed by representatives from neuroradiology. 9:00-10:30 am

  This conference is held on the forth Tuesday every other  month (alternating with Faculty Meetings). Ongoing clinical monitors and indicators are discussed, as well as other quality improvement issues. All deaths and complications occurring during the review period are also discussed. Attendance is mandatory for residents on the clinical service, and interns, medical students and R.N.'s also attend. 9:00-10:30am

• *Clinical pathology conference (Neuropathology)
  This conference is held the first Tuesday morning and is chaired by the Neuropathologist, Dr. Claudia Greco.  Histology of recent surgical and autopsy cases is reviewed. 9:00-10:30 am

• *Basic and clinical neuroscience
  The Basic and Clinical Neuroscience conference is held every other Tuesday for one and one half hours. Neurological pathophysiology is discussed.  11:00-12:30 pm.
• *Neuroradiology "Neuroganza" conference
  The Neuroradiology Conference is held on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays. It is chaired by the Neuroradiologist, Dr. Jon Hartmann. Recent interesting x-rays, CT scans and MRI scans are reviewed. 7:30-8:30 am

• *Journal Club (closed meeting)
  Journal Club is held on the first Tuesday of the month. Each resident is assigned an article from a professional journal article and summarizes the contents.  A faculty member will be assigned the same article to assist with the discussion. 11:00-12:30 pm, Conference Room 3740, Ellison Ambulatory Care Center
• Spine conference
  This conference is held 4th Tuesday of the month with the Orthopaedics Department.  Interesting cases as well as jointly-managed cases are discussed.  Attendance is voluntary for neurological surgery residents. 7:00-8:00 am
