EEG laboratory
The electroencephalograph (EEG) laboratory performs more than 3,000 procedures on adults and children annually. Procedures include routine tests and specialized studies related to epilepsy and sleep disorders. Staffed with certified technicians, the lab performs visual, somatosensory (median and posterior tibial nerves) and brainstem auditory evoked potentials for routine diagnosis. Recordings can be performed on select patients during surgery.
Technicians can also perform video EEG monitoring of patients as part of an epilepsy surgery workup. This workup combines Wada tests, positron emission tomography (PET) scanning and single photon emission tomography (SPET) scanning.
