Grateful giving
Parent inspired, science driven
In 1998, dedicated families concerned about autism turned their quest for answers into a house of dreams – the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute. The Institute has transformed that initial inspiration into significant contributions to the science of autism, fragile X syndrome, Tourette syndrome and other neurodevelopmental disorders that can limit a child’s lifelong potential. For children with these disorders and their families, research, hope and a supportive community exist at the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute.
From our parents
We moved to the Sacramento area so that our son could participate in UCD Davis M.I.N.D. Institute studies, and he’s been in eight studies so far. The kind of research they are doing gives us hope that other parents will not have to struggle the way we have with autism-or fear what their child’s future will be. Together, we’ll find the cure. For that, I am grateful.

Having two sons with autism, we feel the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute just may be the instrument used to lead to their healing. The UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute offers the autism community so much hope and resource. Their cutting edge research sets them apart as a leader in autism, and I feel strongly that they will someday unveil the cause, and cure, to this tragic disability. The lecture series they offer keeps parents and professionals current on their research findings and latest techniques used to treat autism. We especially appreciate the open-minded attitude they assume while exploring all the possible causes and treatments that may be yet undiscovered. For these reasons, we choose to donate as generously as possible to this very significant cause."

We knew something was affecting our baby, and it took the experts at the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute to properly diagnose our Dimitri. That put us on the path we had to take to help our son. As parents, knowing there is a place like the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute that is dedicated to helping children, families and uncovering the mysteries of autism gives us tremendous hope. For that, we are grateful.

Collaboration for results
Right now, research teams at the M.I.N.D. Institute are identifying
- Key differences in the immune systems of children with autism
- Interactions among genetic susceptibility and environmental exposures
- The multiple ways that fragile x affects families along with standards for screening patients
- New treatments that can reduce or eliminate challenges for children with neurodevelopmental disorders.
Join our commitment
Revolutionary research and a commitment to families has positioned the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute as a leader in scientific discovery. As with most research programs, the costs are great and resources are limited. Funding is critical to the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute’s stability and to continue and enhance research and clinical capabilities.
Imagine what your grateful gift can do
Your donation to the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute supports groundbreaking research and our future goals:
- A translational research building – the “testing ground” of new treatments for neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Research program endowments that support recruitment of additional leading researchers
- Expanded community education and research dissemination efforts
- Endowments to expand clinical evaluation and treatment programs
How you can get started
Among our biggest supporters are patients and their family members who make donations to honor the clinicians and researchers they interact with at the Institute. We invite you to join them.
