About us
Funding from the Governor's Office of Emergency Services (formerly known as the Office of Criminal Justice Planning) helped create the California Medical Training Center at University of California, Davis Medical Center. The Center trains medical professionals to effectively identify, evaluate and treat victims of child abuse and neglect, sexual assault, domestic violence, and elder and dependent adult abuse. The trainings offered by the Center provide a multidisciplinary perspective and address the emotional and medical needs of victims as well as the evidence collection requirements of the justice system. Clinicians are trained to provide comprehensive examinations for use by law enforcement, the criminal justice and social services systems.
In addition to training medical professionals, the Center offers training to other professionals involved in such cases, such as law enforcement, prosecutors and social workers as well as providing speakers and panelists for conferences, presentations and Grand Rounds. The Center will help small, outlying communities through such activities as seminars, video conferencing, telecourses, and professional meetings. The California Medical Training Center welcomes opportunities for collaborations and new trainings.
