Psychiatrists for Medical Students, Residents, and Faculty

The following is not an exhaustive list, but identifies physicians who have volunteered to be listed as eager to provide services to UC Davis Health System medical students, residents, and faulty, and have agreed to the following conditions:

1. Open their panel for medical students, residents, and/or faculty members if closed.
2. To allow medical students, residents, and/or faculty members to page and/or email them with personal health care issues and to be flexible in arranging appointments so as to take into account their responsibilities as a medical professional.
3. To allow their phone, pager, email information to be listed on the UC Davis Health System’s Physician Well-being Committee Stress and Depression outreach program website.
4. Arrange an alternate payment agreement if they do not accept the medical student’s, resident’s, and/or faculty member’s insurance.

Medical Students Please Note: Medical students have access to free, confidential psychiatric services in the UC Davis Medical Center at the Student Wellness Clinic. Kent Hart, MD, is available on Thursdays, 12-4 pm, in FSSB 1400. To make an appointment, contact Dr. Hart directly at (916) 734-5070, extension 60019.

Psychiatric services are also available at the main UC Davis campus for all registered students, including medical students, for $25 per visit. Appointments are made by referral through the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Medical students can arrange a referral by calling CAPS at (530) 752-0871 and asking to leave a message for one of the CAPS psychologists who work with medical students in Sacramento: Shana Alexander, Psy.D., Karin Nilsson, Ph.D., and Thomas Roe, PsyD. You can also email these psychologists directly at: medschoolcaps@ucdavis.edu. The CAPS psychologists will then meet with you and facilitate a referral to the CAPS psychiatrists.
