Scientific research at UC Davis School of Medicine offers students a chance to experience the excitement of discovery. At any one time, more than 600 research projects are under way, ranging from fundamental laboratory investigations to patient-focused studies across all the disciplines and specialties. Among the opportunities to choose from:

• Clinical and Translational Science Center.  UC Davis is proud to be among the leading institutions selected by the National Institutes of Health to pioneer a new direction in research — one that's focused on moving medical discoveries from laboratory to bedside and then into the community.

• Center for Reducing Health Disparities.  Taking a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to inequities in health access and quality of care, this center focuses on research, education and community outreach to address the needs of the most vulnerable and underserved populations in the region.

• Stem Cell research.  Students interested in regenerative medicine are just steps away from UC Davis stem cell facilities and laboratories, where physician-scientists are exploring everything from cell therapies for childhood diseases to the types of stem cells that could be used in place of traditional organ transplants.
