Name Change !!! - Welcome to the UC Davis School of Medicine Host-Microbe Systems Biology Core
In keeping with recent transitions in functional genomics research, the Microarray Core Facility will be expanding our services beginning in the summer of 2012 to include sample processing for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and functional analysis of NGS data sets. Accordingly, our name will change from the “Microarray Core Facility” to the “Host-Microbe Systems Biology Core” (HMSBC).  The new NGS analytical services offered will utilize state-of-the-art open source software platforms and other customized scripts developed by the HMSBC co-Director Jonathan Eisen, Ph.D.  The new HMSBC is designed to provide campus researchers with easily accessible, customized, and cost-effective resources for integrating analyses of microbial community structure and host-microbe interactions in health and disease.

The HMSBC will continue to provide researchers with access to cutting edge technology for examining gene expression profiling. Our services include:

  • Microarray Hybridization/Scanning
  • Sample Quality Control
  • Data Analysis
  • Assistance with Experimental Design


Gene Expression Profiling with Affymetrix GeneChips

Arcturus XT Laser Microdissection System now available

  The MCF has recently acquired an Arcturus XT laser microdissection system for isolating specific cells and cell types from cell populations and tissues. This technology can be utilized to isolate RNA and generate gene expression profiles from cells or tissues of interest. For more information, click here.
