"Our goal is to employ both prevention and individualized care to keep people healthy and enhance their overall well-being," said Debra Gage, director of clinical operations for UC Davis Health System's primary care network. "By creating more opportunities and convenience, we hope to make it much easier for women to maintain an appropriate schedule of routine care."

Serving several communities

With the expansion, UC Davis now offers obstetrics and gynecology services at its health-care offices in six communities:

  • Sacramento:  Drs. Michael Chu,  Ashley Young, Nichole Ruffner, Stephanie Sweet and Pia Anderson provide care at UC Davis’ campus on Stockton Boulevard
  • Roseville:  Drs. Bahareh Nejad, Stephanie Sweet and Annie Do
  • Folsom:  Dr. Debra Wright
  • Elk Grove:  Dr. Albert Liu

In addition, family practice physicians offer their specialty services in low-risk obstetrics in Davis (Dr. Marci Snodgrass) and Folsom (Dr. Bernadette Kelly).

UC Davis specialists can also provide advanced diagnosis and treatment for special conditions and unique situations across all levels of severity and complexity.

UC Davis obstetricians offer a wide range of routine and advanced maternity services, including genetic counseling and expert care for high-risk pregnancies and gestational diabetes.

UC Davis obstetricians deliver exclusively at UC Davis Medical Center’s Birthing Center, a 23,000-square-foot facility with waiting areas for visitors, a delivery suite and a newborn nursery — giving the mother the option of having her baby in the nursery, or "rooming-in” where she keeps her baby with her. UC Davis Medical Center provides for a 48-hour stay for all mothers and infants.
