Sacramento-area residents have named UC Davis Medical Center best in quality and image for the 11th consecutive year.

For the 11th consecutive year, UC Davis Medical Center appears on a list of the nation’s top hospitals compiled by a major health-care industry survey research firm.

UC Davis Medical Center earned the “Consumer Choice Award” from National Research Corporation as the Sacramento region’s top and most-preferred hospital in overall quality and image.

The distinction is based on National Research Corporation’s annual nationwide Healthcare Market Guide Ticker survey, which surveys consumers in more than 250,000 households representing more than 440,000 U.S. consumers.

The study uses Internet-based questionnaires to gauge consumer perceptions about multiple quality and image ratings, such as best overall quality, best doctors and nurses, most personalized care, and best individual specialty services such as cancer and heart care.

Winning facilities rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Areas as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. UC Davis Medical Center is located in the Sacramento-Arden-Arcade MSA.

According to NRC, a publicly-traded company listed on the NASDAQ, the Healthcare Market Guide survey is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. The study has a margin of error of plus or minus .2 percent at a national level.

“Consumer Choice award winners exemplify the dedication it takes to provide quality health care to their communities,” said Ginny Martin, president of NRC’s Healthcare Market Guide division. “We are pleased to honor them through the eyes of their patients.”

This is the National Research Corporation’s 14th year awarding hospitals whose consumers have recognized them for providing quality health-care services, and UC Davis Medical Center’s 11th award.

UC Davis Medical Center is a complex, tertiary and quaternary care academic medical center where clinical practice, teaching and research converge to advance human health. Centers of excellence include the UC Davis National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center; the region's only level 1 pediatric and adult trauma center; the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute, devoted to finding treatments and cures for neurodevelopmental disorders; and the UC Davis Children's Hospital, the only comprehensive children's hospital in the Sacramento region.

The medical center serves a 33-county, 65,000-square-mile area that stretches north to the Oregon border and east to Nevada. It further extends its reach through the award-winning telemedicine program, which gives remote, medically underserved communities throughout California unprecedented access to specialty and subspecialty care.
