His primary responsibility includes an ambulatory care system encompassing both the UC Davis Medical Center clinics and the Primary Care Network. The system provides approximately 700,000 primary and specialty care visits each year.

Musallam is also responsible for the managed services organization. In this capacity, he oversees the care of more than 95,000 patients who choose UC Davis Health System physicians as their primary health-care providers.

Musallam’s contracting responsibilities include oversight of the health-care and business contracting processes for both UC Davis Medical Center and the UC Davis Medical Group.

Musallam came to UC Davis in 1976 from Detroit, Michigan to serve as director of parmacy and assistant director of finance. He has a masters degree in clinical pharmacology from Wayne State University and a Masters of Health Administration degree from the University of Southern California. Musallam is a registered pharmacist in California and Michigan. He is a member of the American and California Society of Health System Pharmacists, Medical Group Management Association and the American Medical Group Association.
